antisemitism now

It’s interesting that when the existence of Israel, the Jewish nation, is once again threatened by so many delightful human beings, the opportunity for anti-semitism in the U.K. and, of course, elsewhere, is aired so passionately, so disingenuously, not just by anti-Semitic journalists and keyboard warriors, but media institutions like the BBC.

It’s also interesting that it should fall upon the right-of-centre in the media to speak up against this hatred, voiced most viscerally by the left. That the left should so readily shout its support for islamofascism and so readily launch into finger pointing at a nation once again left to fight for its survival could be put down to simple ignorance. Or possibly, one could excuse the vitriol aimed at the Jewish state on grounds of lazy acceptance of a rewriting of historical realities — that goes back at least to Yasser Arafat. Or, one could possibly feel that what is going on in the minds of the Jeremy Corbyns of the U.K. is simply a sort of muddled romanticised need to champion the perceived underdog, namely the Palestinians, and thus create a monstrous version of history where the Jews are the Nazis.

If the error is based on this latter possibility, maybe, just maybe, the leviathan of antisemitism in the U.K. might be left to resubmerge itself. For now.

It is quite shocking to witness the daily anti-Israeli narrative unfold in the media. Behind the BBC’s defence of its sanitising euphemisms relating to another ISIS style death cult or the UN Director General’s defence of his misguided and undiplomatic suggestion that the latest Hamas atrocities have a context (that, in some bizarre way, explains why another pogrom is justified) may exist some sort of misguided leftist sympathy for a perceived underdog. Let’s accept, for now, their misconception of history, where the Palestinians are the new or even real Jews and that this misconception is genuine.

How did this misconception arise? Could it be that these apologists for terrorist organisations such as the PLO, and now Hamas, accidentally overlooked the fact that these organisations have only ever countenanced a future where Israel didn’t exist at all — effectively the Final Solution? Perhaps the apologisers overlooked the endless attempts by the Israelis and the Americans (and even briefly the Egyptians under Sadat, who was, of course, murdered by the Muslim Brotherhood) to broker a two state solution. Maybe they didn’t notice, for some reason, that Arafat and the PLO tore up the agreement for a two state solution and went straight back into demanding the annihilation of the Jewish state — effectively, a genocidal repeat of the holocaust. Does the left really support Hitler and Amin Al-Husseini’s final solution, because that’s what the pro-Hamas lobby wants?

Well, it’s quite convenient and easy for lazy journalism to point endlessly at the humanitarian crisis now unfolding in Gaza. It’s even easier, if you want, to point out that the crisis is the result of IDF action. It’s also quite easy, if you feel the need, to overlook the fact that Hamas uses hostages not just to protect itself on the ground but to build the narrative that Israel, not they, are responsible for war crimes when the human shield they have created out of the civilian population, gets caught in the crossfire. The equivalent in Ukraine would have been for Zelensky to obstruct the evacuation of civilians from the Donbas in the hope that Russian troops might have balked at their slaughter. If they didn’t, the slaughter would cause such universal opprobrium and outrage that Putin would be denounced as a war criminal. Oh, he has… Well, there are, of course, those who would have Netanyahu so denounced, even though he seeks to protect his citizens (unlike Hamas that puts up road blocks to prevent those it purports to represent from escaping to safety).

The responsibility to protect the civilian population in times of war and conflict lies with the head of state. Rather foolishly, it turns out, the civilian population in Gaza democratically elected the Hamas leadership (wherever and whoever they are) into power. Hamas, by its obstruction of evacuation and its appropriation of aid for its own ends, has no interest in the civilian population other than the expedience it offers as a shield against Israel.

No journalist, as far as I am aware, points to the culpability of Hamas (or, indeed, Egypt and the Arab League) for its callous disregard for the innocent. Of course not. Why would the Arab League, (historically hell bent on the annihilation of the Jewish state) help its own people when they are so conveniently placed to hobble and embarrass Israel?

It remains a concern that the Jeremy Corbyns of the U.K. remain so steadfastly committed to the anti-Jewish narrative so well manipulated by the likes of Iran, Hamas and the BBC.

If you watch the BBC’s propaganda, an unsettling manipulation is going on. For example, the missile strike on a hospital in Gaza was presented, on the basis of initial reports from Hamas, as coming from Israel. It was left to the IDF to bend over backwards to present the evidence to the contrary and that a Hamas missile had misfired. Reporters insisted on extensive evidence from the IDF that was not required from the terrorists. When finally proven beyond reasonable doubt that the missile came from Hamas, newsworthiness had conveniently passed allowing the BBC and other terrorist apologists to shrug their shoulders: Whatever…

It will be clear that the propaganda will continue as the conflict escalates. The hit-and-run approach of the mass media and journalists is increasingly prevalent. For example, in the extra-judicial cancellation of Russell Brand by the press, no evidence was found to corroborate the allegations and, within a week, the propaganda machine went hunting for ratings elsewhere without so much as an apology.

We all need to protect ourselves from the propaganda machine in the U.K. by reading history written by non-partisan academics and by viewing or listening to nuanced critical analysis on the internet.

Here is a brief resource of links that might help, with regards to the present onslaught of media propaganda that can only, really and sadly, have its roots in antisemitism. Of course, if one is gladly and proudly antisemitic, as most of the Arab world certainly is, there should be no problem continuing to gorge on the narratives presented by the likes of the BBC and Iran. As regards the so-called Jewish problem, the Q’ran reads much as Mein Kampf.

Needless to say, at times like this, I am utterly ashamed of being a member of this most vile and pernicious race of odious little vermin: human. May God condemn us all to the hell we create for ourselves and that we deserve.

Shalom.
